Wedding Icon Sets

Have a wedding coming up? You will need a set of traditional wedding icons, one featuring Christ the Savior and another featuring the Most Holy Theotokos. Istok Church Supplies has an excellent selection of wedding icon sets that can elevate the marriage ceremony and life thereafter.

Important Role in Orthodox Wedding Ceremony

The Orthodox Christian marriage ceremony is steeped in tradition and symbolism. One of the traditions is to bless the couple with the presentation of wedding icons. The groom is presented with an icon of Christ the Savior whereas the bride is presented with an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. This act has a specific purpose – to remind the couple of their commitment made to each other before God. The presentation is done by the priest after the sacrament of Matrimony.

Pride of Place in Home Iconostasis

It’s common for people to present the best quality wedding icons they can afford. Wedding icons are the first gifts received by the newly married couple and find their place as main icons in the home iconostasis of the married couple. In this respect, Istok Church Supplies offers superior quality wedding icons sets that can be passed down from one generation to the next.

Extravagant Detailing Combined with Traditional Style

Our wedding icons are rendered by master craftsmen who understand and apply ancient canonical art traditions. Moreover, they feature stunning details such as gold-gilding, nickel-gilding, tempera painting and intricate brass etchings. We offer Orthodox wedding icon sets at various price points. The more expensive ones feature extravagant details such as hand silk printing, enamel, baguette and embossed basma strips. These details represent the heights of Orthodox iconography aesthetics and we are happy to offer them to our esteemed customers.
