One of these is the use of the Bishop’s throne, a symbol of the teaching authority of the Bishop. In Latin, this seat is called “cathedra” and is also found in the Anglican and Catholic churches.
 
Hand-Carved
The Bishop throne for the Orthodox Church is a very elaborately carved piece of furniture which is made of pine, limewood, oak or other expensive wood; it is hand carved and the seat and back is lined with velvet.
